Cultivating Self-Love - be your own Valentine

Valentines Day is a time to celebrate those special people in our lives and without a doubt the most special person in your life is YOU! So this February 14th , here at MahaDevi, we are ditching the materialism and and instead giving you a ‘SELF-centred’ alternative to the Valentines hype.

So this Valentines begin to love yourself absolutely and unconditionally.  Here are some ideas:

Get some rest

This Valentine's treat yourself to an hour of calming breath work, and guided meditation to relax, heal, and restore the body, mind, and spirit. Everyone can benefit from the therapeutic practice of Yoga Nidra and we are offering a Valentines special on Sunday 17th February. And, if you can’t join us make sure you take a nap! Research shows that naps can improve performance, vigilance, and even memory.

Nourish your mind

Whether or not we are conscious of it, our minds are always working. Our thoughts real things and they are powerful. What type of thoughts do you have about yourself? How do you perceive yourself? Do you think about your flaws, or do you think about your strengths? This Valentines Day give up the negative self-talk and swap it for positivity. We think you are great

Nourish your body

Fill your body with wholesome and nutritious foods, what we eat effects how we feel. Showing your body that it matters and treating it well contributes to a healthy mind. So why not start your Valentines Day with a healthy breakfast and finish it with a yoga class. Our yoga centre in Islington teaches classic Hatha Yoga and  has been voted one of the top 10 places to practice by TimeOut.

Take yourself out on a date.

Always make time for you. Being around loved ones is a great way to spend your time, but spending time with yourself is just as important. You don’t need other people to do the things you want to do. Go and visit that restaurant you’ve been dying to try, go and see that movie, spend the day reading instead of cleaning. Do the things you want to do and enjoy your own company.

Surround yourself with people who remind you you're beautiful!

While loving yourself and learning to appreciate your own company is important so is a supportive community. Who you spend time with the most is who you will become so the company of positive and uplifting people is crucial. Remember you can always join our community. Why not come to class 15 mins early and have a cup of tea and meet some new people.
